Bush Finally Addresses the NAACP


George W. Bush finally addressed the NAACP's national convention in Washington, D.C.

saying: "I understand that racism still lingers in America. It's a lot easier to change a law than to change a human heart. And I understand that many African Americans distrust my political party."
A review of the Bush record by People for the American Way (PFAW), shows there are plenty of reasons to not just distrust the GOP, but Bush in particular. The report offers a detailed analysis of the Bush civil rights record. Ralph G. Neas, president of PFAW, concluded: "President Bush's administration has compiled the worst civil rights record in modern American history." Considering the hostility of the Nixon and Reagan administrations, that's some feat.
